Dearest Friends and Supporters of Netiv Meir

This year as we approach the holy day of Yom Kippur and right before we connect ourselves to the Almighty, I want to take you back to the end of the 19th century, when a famous german Rabbi Abraham Dantzig (1748-1820) wrote his book “Chaye Adam” (Man’s Life) mainly a summary on daily laws, also adding some unpublished prayers.

One of those prayers is the children’s blessing each parent recites on Erev Yom Kippur, wishing his or her child to have a fulfilled life and be inscribed for a good year. As Rabbi Dantzig himself points out, reciting this prayer is a very emotional moment that takes place right before going to synagogue for the Kol Nidrei service! Just read the words of this incredible prayer!!

My dear friends, this year the Almighty has tested us with our son’s well being and with His mercy we have overcome the test, through real miracles. Our Sages teach us that when one helps the spirituality of needy people, then Hashem will himself take care of one’s problems. As we’re all partners in this beautiful Mitzvah of providing tefillins to young boys for the last decade, I have no doubt we’re all part of our Sages blessing.

Join me this year on Erev Yom Kippur in reciting for each of our children this very special blessing, and let’s pray to the Almighty to inscribe us all in the book of life for this coming year 5776 Amen.
