The Program
Netiv Meir Foundation’s primary activity is organizing Bar Mitzvah celebrations for underprivileged children in Israel.
A full day program is organized once a year for a group of boys and their families, begining with prayers at the Kotel and followed by a festive lunch and entertainment at the Knesset’s (Israel’s parliament) Chagall Auditorium in the presence of political and religious leaders.
Our History
Several years ago as I was putting on my brand new teffillin on the day of my Bar Mitzvah, it never crossed my mind that there might be another boy somewhere in the world who would need to borrow teffillin from his uncle or his father for his special Bar Mitzvah celebration.
In 2003 I was invited to a very special Bar Mitzvah event at the Knesset hosted by the former MK Charlie Bitton. As a result of this event Netiv Meir Foundation was created to provide Bar Mitzvah celebrations for underprivileged children in Israel.
We began in 2004 and have just successfully reached our very own Bar Mitzvah in 2017!
In addition to our annual event at the Knesset, plans are being set for similar events in Mexico City, Deal NJ and Los Angeles CA.
